Hotels in the area are Cypress Point 731-253-6654 and Blue Bank 877-258-3226. Reelfoot State Park also have cabins for rent. They are very nice. You can check availability for the cabins and book at https://tnstateparks.com/parks/about/reelfoot-lake. You are responsible for making your own reservations. Camping is also available if preferred.
Times and costs are estimates at this time. This trip is a little different than the summer trip. Usually this group is smaller than the June trip and a lot will depend on the water level at the time of the event. If the water level is too low, boat trips will have to be in David Haggard's private boat-not the park's pontoon boat. His boat will hold max of 5-6 persons per trip.
ALL BOAT RIDES MUST BE PAID IN CASH SO BE SURE TO BRING ENOUGH CASH.
Sunset trips will be limited to one boat trip per evening. Sunrise/day trips will consist of one trip actually for the sunrise and subsequent trips for others later in the morning. If trips have to be made in David's boat, they will start at sunrise and last for approx one hour. He will then return to pick up the next group. David's goal is for everyone to be able to shoot the birds with the sun either at sunset or sunrise. Please be flexible and considerate of your fellow club members so that everyone gets a chance at either sunrise or sunset. You can also get some great sunset photos from Blue Bank Resort.
I know this is confusing but please bear with us. If you are interested in all 4 trips, please go ahead and sign up for them. Just know that on the sunset trips, you may only be able to go on one of them. The day trips you will be able to take a trip both days but may not be able to go at sunrise on both of them.
Prices will be $15.00-20.00 per person per boat trip. If we go out in David's boat, we are charging $15.00 pp per trip as the trip will be shorter than if we go on the pontoon boat. If we do pontoon boat ride, it will be $20.00 pp per trip and the park gets part of that money. The pontoon rides usually last about 3 hours.
We usually will do some group meals. Exact restaurants and times have not been determined at this time. Suggestions appreciated.
Please join us for this wonderful trip. This is the best way to see Reelfoot lake with David Haggard as our guide. Wonderful learning opportunities are available to all who join us for this weekend.
