Photographer Rick Barnard to be MCC Program Speaker

Mineral Creek Number 2

PHOTOGRAPHER Rick Barnard will be program speaker of the Memphis Camera Club (MCC) on Sept. 20, 2018. A prolific photographer and exhibitor, Rick will discuss, "The Third Dimension: Understand it, visualize it and use it to create outstanding landscape photographs."

Rick is owner of the photographic gallery on the web at rickbarnardphotography.com and also exhibits his images at rick-barnard.pixels.com.

The Columbus Arts Council, Columbus, MS, will present a solo exhibition of Rick's photographic prints at the council gallery Nov. 1 through Dec. 31, 2018.  Rick has had solo exhibits at The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center, Memphis, TN; The Club, Columbus Air Base, Columbus, MS; The Beverly and Sam Ross Gallery, Christian Brothers University, Memphis, TN; and other venues in the greater Memphis area. He has participated in dozens of group art exhibits in Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia and Maryland.

Rick is a member of MCC and has twice been named its Photographer of the Year.

"Landscape photography is a challenging aspect of the photographic arts," he said. "Our goal is to portray beautiful, dramatic, three-dimensional vistas on photo paper or digital screens that have only width and height. But our viewers want more. They want to look at our work and believe they can actually walk through the valley or swim the river they see in the image before them."

"We have to depict the sense – the feeling – of depth. My program for MCC is about how to do that."

MCC meetings are free and open to the public. For more information: memphiscameraclub.com
